More spoilers for new WOW expansion

More information is unveiled about the upcoming expansion for the World of Warcraft which is Wrath of the Lich king. Aside from what has already been reported more news have reached gamers about changes and new features that would be coming in the new expansion. Some bits are precise and abrupt like for example the ending of this expansion would have a note of finality and would be definitive compared to the Burning Crusade. Kil’jaeden is not fully summoned, which means players will be able to take him down with 25 Level 70s. Sunwell will have tweaked Blood Elves and somewhere around six to eight bosses. Dalaran will have instanced dungeons, but no Auction Houses or Class trainers. More micro dungeons will be added which would be non-instanced dungeon-like areas. One example is Gjalerbon, where the Vrykuls and the Liches are working together. Utgarde will be similar to Ramparts, with parts of the map only being accessible after killing specific enemies. It will also have a Lich boss and a Vrykul boss. Inscribers will be able to sell scrolls, but only a handful of spells can be inscribed. There are two Death Knight Spells that were revealed: Army of the Dead, which summons undead minions, and Death and Decay, an Area of Effect spell. These changes would surely make the game more interesting and actually changes its face a bit, more players are just hoping that Blizzard would live up to the hype they are so proud about.

WOW: new testing ground to observe epidemics

There was a virtual disease in the World of Warcraft which was called “Corrupted Blood” which has swept the game since September 2005, The game’s administrators introduced the disease as a challenge for some high-level players; they didn’t expect it to break out of the caves and into the virtual world’s cities and towns. The disease then ravaged the player population; this is despite administrators’ efforts to quarantine the infected and gave World of Warcraft its first virtual-world pandemic. Researchers used the artificial and virtual world of warcraft to observe how a disease may behave in a population. It was originally designed to affect only high-level World of Warcraft characters, for clues about what the social response might be to an actual pandemic. The game provided the authors of a research paper set to be published in The Lancet Infectious Diseases journal a unique set of conditions for this research that had typically been difficult to simulate: A wide population, an emotional response (because WoW players get really attached to their characters) and the ability to disseminate information among the population.

Blizzard still says “NO” to Consoles

World of Warcraft has always been bombarded with the same question of availability in other platforms and has always remained firm with the same answer, that world of Warcraft will never come into a Playstation 3 or an Xbox 360 or even a Wii. Rob Pardo, Blizzard’s Vice-president of game design has obviously been dodging this question for so long not because of speculations of probable truths but because he has grown tired of answering it. Pardo told GameDaily: “WoW was really never designed for the console experience, for us to try and put it on a console would be a Herculean effort that would only take away from our ability to serve our current customers.” These stories of World of Warcraft would certainly continue to circulate in the way that more gamers now want flexibility with their consoles and would want to try out World of Warcraft in the comfort of their sofas. They want to see this great game become more available like what FFXI has achieved.

Archimonde- Nerfed!

World of Warcraft’s resident demon: Archimonde the Defiler, the great demon who single-handedly destroyed Dalaran just to prove a point and mark his arrival in Azeroth is actually getting a hot fix. Daelo, Blizzard’s Lead Encounter Designer posted some details on the changes that were made. He also stated that the changes are being implemented so as to spread it out and in a more expedited manner. Not all planned changes for Archimonde has been implemented but more will follow with the patch 2.2 here are the following changes that has been introduced:
-Archimonde now casts fear in a bit more consistent manner, roughly every 40 seconds.

-Fear’s cast time is now 1.5 seconds.

-Grip of the Legion now has only a 60 yard range.

-Red Soul Charge now only silences players for 4 seconds.

These changes were made to make encounters for the players a little less rough, much like a “nerf”. But regardless of these new changes we can still expect whole parties will be taken down while they try to deal with Archimonde.
