Comics for Warcraft

The success of the World of Warcraft has simply exceeded so many expectations, and saying that blizzard has done their best for their most loved MMO is simply an understatement. It has really been surprising how the world of Azeroth is coming to life and spreading in other mediums, but what’s a shock is why the World of Warcraft hasn’t reached the movies yet, but meanwhile the World of Warcraft is invading a geek platform, the comics. DC Comics was reported to produce a new comic book based on the game.

The comics which was reported to be a monthly series will be written y Walt Simonson a comics veteran, who is known for the marvel’s mythology fueled Thor. Art and inking would be handled by Ludo Lullabi and Sandra Hope respectively. The comic book will be published through Wildstorm, which is DC’s line of comics. A press release also reveals a portion of the stories direction and flavor:

“The first storyline of the new ongoing series begins when a human is found unconscious on the shores of Kalimdor, with no memory of who he is or how he arrived there. Enslaved by an orc shaman, the man must fight for survival against members of both the Alliance and the Horde. He strikes uneasy relationships with other races in his quest to find the secrets of his past.”

Warcraft as reported by Newsrama has already been translated in to a graphic novel in the form of manga which includes three volumes published by Tokyopop, but the series don’t appear to be related in any way. Preview art will be introduced this coming Comic-Con International in San Diego this coming weekend. The comic book is expected to debut this coming fall.
